Records Quality Assurance Tech Jobs Job Opening in Fishers

The purpose of the Records Quality Assurance Tech is to review, edit and process case reports from the police records/data management software system for accuracy and compliance with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Indiana State Police (ISP) regulations and guidelines for the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) programs. This position develops and submits monthly reports required for the NIBRS requirements and guidelines. Additionally, the position categorizes and edits AXON dash and body camera video for accuracy; redacts, prepares and releases AXON video for public records requests. This is a full time civilian position. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Records Manager and the Support Lieutenant with the Fishers Police Department.

Examples of Duties

  • Review, comprehend and maintain knowledge of literature, laws and manuals as provided by the FBI and ISP for NIBRS and UCR programs.
  • Review Department case reports and police records for accuracy and compliance with the NIBRS reporting criteria.
  • Submits monthly required reports to the ISP NIBRS repository per State and FBI guidelines for submission to the State and FBI reporting programs.
  • Receives accuracy and error reports from the ISP NIBRS division and follows up with corrections, questions or guidance.
  • Communicates with ISP NIBRS and FBI NIBRS representatives regarding reporting, inquires and training.
  • Prepares and maintains NIBRS training documents for the department. Provides guidance for procedures and processes relating to NIBRS functions to achieve and maintain accuracy and consistency in NIBRS compliance for the department.
  • Reviews, categorizes, and edits Axon dash and body camera videos.
  • Communicates with the Patrol Division regarding categorization and editing of AXON video.
  • Prepares, redacts and releases AXON dash and body camera videos as requested through public records requests.
  • Assists the Records Division with various duties as needed.
  • Assist the records clerks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

The following are considered by Fishers to be the necessary qualifications and minimum requirements a person must possess to successfully perform the functions of this position.

  • Standard knowledge of office practices & equipment
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • General computer skills. (Microsoft Office and ability to learn the records management system)
  • Ability to organize information and tasks
  • Time management skills

Supplemental Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The following are considered by Fishers to be the preferred qualifications of a person applying for this position.
  • Minimum experience equivalent to at least three years in related work.
  • Knowledge of police reporting and criminal terminology.
  • Knowledge of standardized rules and regulations of police departments.
  • Knowledge of police dash camera and body camera software.

PLACES WHERE WORK IS PERFORMED: This job is performed in the Fishers Police Department which is located in the municipal complex. There are also times where this job is performed outside or in other buildings on the municipal complex. This position will require outside training throughout the year.
