Staff Writer/Content Creator Job Opening at Peake Media in Louisville November 2018

Peake Media, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is a national business-to-business media company that provides best practice, business resources that educate and empower health, fitness and wellness industry professionals to succeed. Those resources include: publications, websites, e-newsletters, digital and social media content and events. Currently we publish Club Solutions Magazine, for health club professionals;Campus Rec Magazine, for recreation professionals at colleges and universities across the U.S.; Box Pro Magazine, a resource for CrossFit Affiliate owners and coaches; and Mindful Studio Magazine, for yoga studio professionals. We will also be launching an additional publication for the nonprofit community recreation industry, called Community Rec Magazine, in Q1 of 2019.

Currently Peake Media is looking to hire a full-time Staff Writer/Content Creator. This individual should have a degree in journalism from an accredited university or college, experience in AP Style, web (preferred, but not necessary), be a proven writer able to operate on deadline, a team player and a self-starter. We are looking for a go-getter, someone with drive and passion for what they do.If “work hard, play hard” is your motto, we’d like to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with editors to write feature stories, web stories, and regular columns.
  • Update websites/manage digital calendars.
  • Create/execute e-blasts and e-newsletters.
  • Post to social media.
  • Assist with editing/proofing monthly magazines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or English.
  • Experience working for a magazine, newspaper or website.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of AP Style.
  • Ability to work well on deadline.
  • Hard worker, self-starter, team player and positive communicator.
  • Must be able to have fun and laugh.
